Sarah Riehl, M.A.
Hello and Welcome
I knew early on that my life’s work was to advocate for mental health and wellness through the simple act of listening to others with a kind ear. I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I then went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. I am currently working towards the completion of a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University.
My clinical experience began at Santa Anita Family Services Center where I developed skills in treating a variety of mental health issues, including chemical dependency, depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles. I went on to train at Project Sister Family Services where I received training in the treatment of trauma and worked with a diverse population including children, adolescents and adults whom were survivors of sexual assault and abuse. I completed my internship training at Airport Marina Counseling Services in Los Angeles, where I received training in psychodiagnostic testing, and provided long-term, insight-oriented individual psychotherapy to a diverse population of adults.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe healing begins and ends with understanding. I approach clients with hope to build a meaningful therapeutic relationship established upon trust. I believe that a therapeutic relationship can provide healing and growth opportunities for each individual to better understand their self and how they connect to others. I seek to understand my clients and offer an authentic perspective to their unique life story. I aim to embody empathy and collaboratively work with my clients to explore their needs, wants, and goals for their life. I believe psychotherapy can result in a stronger sense of self and an increased ability to cope with life’s ups and downs.
Services and Special Interests
I currently work as a psychological assistant in private practice under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Chrisman whom is a licensed clinical psychologist. I see a diverse client population of children, adolescents, women and men. I work with a variety of mental health and life issues and can provide support with issues associated with, but not limited to, chemical dependency, abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-development, self-esteem, relationships, and family discord.
